Jones will be playing US Army Colonel Chester Phillips. It was Phillips who recruits Chris Evans' Steve Rogers into Project: Rebirth which turns him into the super soldier Captain America.
Jones has that grizzled old Army man look to him, so I have no doubt that he will be able to pull off this role. And if you have any thoughts that he might be too big a name to play the part, look at the other Marvel movies and think again.
It has also been announced that Marvel will have a large presence at this year's Comic Con which means that there will probably be some cool information and maybe even a teaser trailer for the flick after the panel.
Captain America: The First Avenger comes to theaters July 22, 2011.
